“The Happiest Couple” is a day in the life of a couple trapped in a self-destructive cycle because it’s the only love they know.

“The happiest couple alive” depicts a typical day of a young couple in love who apparently just moved in together. In the course of the film, we find out that love is not the only thing they share. That’s what this story makes sense for me. In no way is it clear that we follow two junks, we follow two people.

Daniel Nogueira – Director

The ‘Happiest couple alive’ is a film about perpetual cycles. A theme any human can relate to, whether you’re chemically dependant or not. We all have self-destructive patterns we cling to…that we desperately wish we could quit but lack the strength. So, by definition does that make you an addict? Or simply a human being? And further still, are our addictions evil or do they keep us secure, perhaps even ‘happy’? This inherent duality is what this story’s all about.
